In his kingdom in the Enchanted Forest, Prince Charming sacrificed himself to ensure that his newborn daughter Emma would escape a terrible curse. In Storybrooke, he was an unnamed coma patient who had been lying in the hospital for as long as anyone could remember. One night Mary Margaret read to him a fairy-tale. That night, everything changed ... but not in the way some expected.

John Doe awoke in a modern hospital bed still with all his memories intact, unable to speak or move, or even open his eyes. In this universe, it was Mr Gold who first discovered his awakening and the existence of his memories. In this universe, Mr Gold took him into his estate, keeping the prince under his own control for his own ends--whatever they might be.
This is a roleplaying journal for an Once Upon A Time AU in which 'John Doe's' coma protected him from losing his memories of being Prince Charming. No profit is gained.
